Planning for the next 5 years….. our new Corporate Plan
The Northern and Western Regional Assembly (NWRA) was established on 1stJanuary 2015 covering Galway City & County, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Monaghan and Sligo.
Located in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon the NWRA is responsible for:
- Regional economic and spatial planning
- Management of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) in BMW region
- Developing, implementing and promoting regional development policy and activities
- Acting as national contact point for EU-funded transnational programmes
- Engaging in collaborative research projects with national and international partners
We have an ambition to create value by being the most Connected Region in Europe. Working with constituent stakeholders to connect our strengths.
Full evidence of this work can be viewed on this website and that includes delivery of our €320m Regional Operational Programme, development of the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategies (RSES), success in securing European Entrepreneurial Region award in 2018 and being designated as only one of twenty city & regions in Europe for Regio Hub (communicating the EU legislative package).
In addition, the NWRA has overseen an increase in the supply of EU funds to the region through transnational programmes with initiatives like the Diploma in EU Funds and the establishment of our EU Engagement unit. The NWRA is also directly involved with innovative projects focusing on smart cities, SME digitisation, greenways and gastronomy. Many of these aligning with priorities across Regional Enterprise Plans, Rural Development Programme and the Atlantic Economic Corridor.
The NWRA is approaching this work with a clear set of values, focusing on:
- Creativity
- Partnership
- Engagement, and
- Vision
Thus, we continually aim to improve how we engage with stakeholders across all aspects of our programme of work – allowing stakeholders to influence, guide and steer our activities, enabling us to better deliver our vision as an organisation. The development of our new Corporate Plan for 2019-2024 provides us the perfect opportunity to do this.
We are seeking your feedback.
As the EU growth strategy moves towards a smarter and greener Europe, the NWRA forecasts a strategic opportunity to align regional priorities with EU and Exchequer funds. We are exploring how we can integrate and align core responsibilities to create more value and accelerate sustainable regional growth. In helping shape our new strategy we are inviting the views and opinions of key stakeholders and would very much welcome your perspective on what you think the key areas of focus should be. Where can we create additional value or enhance our service delivery?
We would greatly appreciate your responses by September 27themailed to Gerry Lavelle in Corporate Services (ei.ar1733963202wn@el1733963202leval1733963202g1733963202)
