Project Summary
Net Zero Cities supports European cities to drastically cut down greenhouse gas emissions through climate action to achieve ‘climate neutrality’, one of the biggest challenges our societies face today. This project is funded through the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
The NWRA through this project European NetZeroCities pilot project supports the creation of a ‘Warm Home Hub’ (a drop in and online resource https://www.warmhomehub.ie/) in the Westside of Galway city, helping residents to retrofit their homes – it aims to encourage 250 households to begin their retrofitting journey, and to train 60 people in retrofitting training courses.
€1 million Investment
This €1m investment is ongoing with Galway City Council, University of Galway, the Atlantic Technological University, the Galway Energy Co-Operative and the Westside Resource Centre, are jointly developing strategies and services to reduce carbon emissions from home heating in the Westside area of Galway City.
GOAL of retrofitting 250 private homes in the Galway Westside area, during a two-year period.
